RETURN TO Crossfit PROGRAM

CrossFit is not only a great way to stay in shape, it is a way of life! Having a physical therapist who understands typical movement patterns and common injuries is important. We have Doctors of Physical Therapy who personally CrossFit and understand what the body has to withstand to keep up with the daily challenges. It is important for all CrossFitters to understand, pain while lifting can really hinder your progress and a lot of times end up causing more pain/damage to the body. Getting treatment by a specialized physical therapist right away typically decreases recovery time and prevents further damage.

Typical Gym Pathologies Seen:

  • Shoulder Impingement/Tendonitis from pushing activities

  • Low back facet derangment pain with squatting or deadlifting

  • Knee patellar tendonitis with squatting or single leg exercises

All these pathologies typically have a root problem which must be corrected along with site of pain/discomfort.

Physical Therapy Treatment Priorities:

  • Find the source of the pain; typically, the site of pain isn’t the root cause of your pain

  • Decrease your symptoms and correct limitations with a joint by joint approach.

  • Focus on manual treatment during your session and give you corrective exercises to do at home (this is crucial to see results!).

Every individual is different and should be treated different depending on what their limitations are. Each physical therapy treatment session will focus on progressing the athlete back to the gym with a joint by joint approach, extensive manual treatment and updating their correctives each visit.
