What's the best way to get rid of knee pain?

The best way to combat knee pain is a multi-modal approach which includes:

  1. Full evaluation and diagnosis. Knee pain can come in many forms and the BEST way to treat it depends on what is going on with the knee. We want to test and rule out ligamentous or meniscus damage.

  2. Corrective exercise to address the movement fault or joint biomechanical fault. This can be at the low back, hip, knee or ankle. Knee pain can come from any joint within the kinetic chain. These need to be the correct exercises based off the knee diagnosis, not just any exercise!

  3. Hands on manual treatment. The research says it over and over. Best and lasting success rates come when proper corrective exercise is combined with Manual Treatment. Manual treatment includes, dry needling, cupping therapy, electro-dry needling, soft tissue work, mobilizations with movement just to a name a few. These techniques themselves can often take majority of your symptoms away in just the first couple of visits. 

  4. Correct the movement pattern; your body tries to avoid the painful movement often causing a chain reaction in the body. Once the knee is pain free, we need to get the knee, as well as the joints above and below moving correctly to prevent future pain and bulletproof the knee.
